SKEATS™ USE INSTRUCTIONS, WARNINGS AND DISCLAIMERS
SKIING AND SPLITBOARDING ARE INHERENTLY DANGEROUS SPORTS. YOU ARE RESONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN ACTIONS AND DECISIONS. BEFORE USING OUR PRODUCTS, READ AND UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING:
USE INSTRUCTIONS
1) ⚠ Attachment point width must equal or be greater than the Skeats™ skin cleat width used. If the skin cleat size used is larger than the ski mid-waist, there is risk of bending/damaging the skin cleat, as well as poor function. The Skeats™ Claws, utilize the inset side points for optimizing on edge, uphill grip, taking full advantage of the ski edge in addition to the Claws front and side points. This is opposite to a typical ski crampons, which are wider than the ski mid-waist and on hard ice there is a risk the overhanging side points prevent the ski edge from gripping the snow.
2) ⚠ All Skeats™ products are to be used with climbing skins between the base of the ski/splitboard half and the Skeats™. If Skeats™ are used without climbing skins there is risk of ski/splitboard base damage. In case of touring skin glue failure, ensure the touring skin is flat against the base when mounting Skeats™ to secure the touring skin in place.
3) ⚠ The hair on your climbing skins may wear around the cleat mounting locations after extended use. Depending on use and mounting tightness, expect some skin hair to wear around the Skeats™ corners and/or outer profile. Mounting flat and snug/tight against the skin will decrease the probability of cimbing skin hair wear.
4) ⚠☠ After attaching and removing Skeats™ near tour mode toe pieces that use walk mode locking levers, ensure each walk mode lever is pushed down or pulled up per your splitboard or ski binding manufacturer’s specified “Locked/Walk Position”. Depending on your tightening and removal method of the Voile strap, the strap can lift up or push down the locking lever if mounting Skeats™ next to it.
5) ⚠☠ Voile straps are to be inspected for cuts before and after each use, if cuts are observed please replace the 20” Skeats™ branded aluminum buckle Voile straps. Only use genuine Voile straps with aluminum buckles.
6) ⚠☠ In emergency situations the Skeats™ can also be used as emergency boot crampons on stiff sole mountaineering and snowboard boots. Skeats™ are NOT intended as a replacement for mountaineering boot crampons and are only to be used as a last resort to help reach safer terrain. Practice with them in safe terrain and never over any life threatening exposure. Carry proper mountaineering boot crampons on tours requiring them.
